Feb.1-5 At Phoenix Civic Plaza

It's here. The time has come.

With the state's waterways at record levels, Arizona boaters who are looking for the latest in on-the-water fun have a big event just around the corner: the Feb. 1-5 35th Arizona National Boat Show and Fishing Exposition at the Phoenix Civic Plaza.

Nearly 250,000 square feet will be devoted to the state's top dealers displaying 300 pleasure and fishing boats, personal watercraft, houseboats, marine accessories, and engines. In addition, boating-related seminars on the Game and Fish Department Seminar Stage will be offered.

Anglers wanting to get the latest tips and tricks on how to fool their favorite fish will be able to watch the experts as they entice gamefish at the 4,000-gallon Fishing Aquarium. The Fly Tying Theater will cover instruction and advice on how to tie flies that are sure to catch trout from the state's numerous icy high-country waters.

"We are really excited about the 2006 show," said Jon Greenband, show producer. "The wonderful rains we received in 2005 have filled the state's lakes and reservoirs, and everybody is talking about the tremendously improved boating opportunities Arizona has to offer."

Greenband explained that the Arizona National Boat show is the best place to get the latest information on Arizona boating and the outdoors, and the event - the longest running consumer show in the Southwest - offers excellent dealer incentives.

"The newest models will be on display, and all the dealers will be anxious to get the latest boats and motors into the hands of the consumers," added Greenband.

In addition, a free fishing pond for kids up to 12 years old will be available. Experts will help the kids bait their hooks, fight, and land the catfish.

A free fishing boat, motor and trailer will be given away at the show, so show goers need to sign up.

Admission to the 35th Annual Arizona National Boat Show and Fishing Exposition is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (60+), $6 for juniors ages 7 through 12, and free for kids 6 and under. Discount coupons worth $1 off the adult admission will be available at all 7-Eleven stores.

Show hours are 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1; noon-10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2; noon to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday Feb. 5.
