Lucas Oil Drag Boat racing series 2016 will sear Arizona waters this fall.
There is only one word for it — “insanity”! How else can you describe a form of racing in which nitro methane Top Fuel machines vaporize the liquid ¼ mile in just 4.7 seconds at over 250 mph?
For racing fans around the country, nothing satisfies their urge for speed and raw horsepower like the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. This now-united sport allows more than 900 teams to run for one national championship; each national event spotlights several pro classes highlighted by the Top Fuel Hydro class. It’s all about 8,000 horsepower nestled in sleek, composite vessels — a form of motorsport that’s as visceral as it is captivating.
Arizona fans get to watch this spectacular watersport in Parker on Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16 and at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix on Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6.

Publishers Note – Several years ago we were able to provide sponsorship for one of the top-fuel drag boats. As sponsors, we were able to sit in the canopy of the boat. This is not a good place to be if you are claustrophobic. A years or so later, we were able to run one of the off-shore skater powerboats up and down Lake Havasu at 160 MPH. Our driver was one of the world champions. If you haven’t seen or experienced the top fuel drag boats or the Skater Power Boats www.skaterpowerboats.com, it’s time you did.
How fast have you gone on the water?
