National Women’s Sailing Association

Debbie Huntsman

Are you a woman interested in literally sailing into your future? Or perhaps you already know how to get across an ocean using only the wind? Of maybe you are just curious about sailing in the desert? The knot tie tea party is for all of you.

The National Women’s Sailing Association president, Debbie Huntsman, will be the lead knot teacher at Lake Pleasant on the Pleasant Harbor side. This will be the first of a monthly National Women’s Sailing Association’s Learn About Sailing Things (L.A.S.T.) workshops for women sailors and wannabe sailors in the greater Phoenix area.

At the knot tea party — women will socialize, drink tea (or an beverage you choose), learn to tie a few useful nautical knots, and watch the sun as it lowers over the lake as we decide what to learn next about sailing.

All Abilities

“Women of all sailing abilities are encouraged to attend,” said NWSA past president Linda Newland. “By sharing experiences, women leave with improved skills and knowledge that contribute to better days on the water. There is always something of interest for everyone.”

Notes: RSVP via email is required — the park is expansive, you might want directions to the meeting place. There is a $6 fee for entry into the Pleasant Harbor Regional park. The L.A.S.T. group will meet at the blue topped shuttle shelter in the public parking lot above the marina entrance and private parking — . This shelter will be a good gathering place.

Tumbleweed Sailing will provide refreshments…tea and crumpets. Bring your favorite tea cup.
