AZGFD Commission Awards
The Arizona Game and Fish Commission announced the recipients of the 2025 Commission Awards at its Sept. 5 meeting in Eagar, Ariz.
Silver Creek ‘Catch-And-Keep’
Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) staff expect fishing to be slower than in past years at this time. Brown Creek has been flowing into Silver Creek for several weeks now, making the water turbid due to mountain rain and snowmelt runoff.
Canyon Creek Fish Hatchery
The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) has confirmed the presence of New Zealand mudsnails, an aquatic invasive species, in lower Canyon Creek approximately 3 miles downstream of Canyon Creek Hatchery.
Gone Fishing
Fishing is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Arizona; both tournaments and fun family angling events are available almost every month of the year.
AZGFD Stocks Tiger Bass
Anglers received a treat for the future when the Arizona Game and Fish Department stocked 15,000 tiger bass into Roosevelt Lake on June 14. Tiger bass are from Alabama and are a cross between an aggressive northern largemouth bass and a pure strain Florida largemouth bass that comes from a proven line. These fish are known for being aggressive and fast-growing.

Cuthroat Stocking
AZGFD hatchery staff traveled to Colorado in early May to bring back 15,000 Snake River cutthroat trout from the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery to be stocked in Luna Lake and Big Lake.
