Editor’s Note: Recently AZBW did the following interview with Rob Price of Surf & Turf Radio about their program.

Q: What makes your program different?

A: Each week, we devote the first hour to fishing. The second hour we discuss other outdoors sports and travel destinations.

Q: You seem to be having fun on the program.

A: We always have fun. Most people participate in outdoors sports for fun. Although we’re very passionate about our sports, we try not to take it too seriously. So, I guess in that respect we’re unique compared to other programs. We have fun but still bring valuable and informative material to each broadcast. If it’s outdoors, we’ll talk about it. We’ve had everything from surfers, hunters, offshore boat racers, and golfers on the program. And, the guests whom we bring are all professionals in their areas. Hopefully, you can learn from professionals while having fun doing it.

Q: You’re coming up on your one-year anniversary. What’s in store for the future?

A: We’ve learned a lot over the past year. People can look forward to more of the same but with a few additions that we’re really excited about. For one thing, I really wanted the ability to offer some exciting vacation packages to our listeners. We’ve been able to accomplish that, and those are posted on our Web page.

Q: Tell us a little about yourselves and how you got started?

A: I’ve known Wendy Tochihara for a number of years and have always been impressed with her knowledge and reputation within the fishing industry. David Roesenthal is the Webmaster of a popular Web page WestcoastAngler.com. When the opportunity arose for Surf & Turf Radio, I discussed the prospect of hosting with them, and the rest is history. Together I think we bring a broad cross section of outdoor knowledge to the program. I’ve been a hunter and fisherman most of my life as well a surfer and golfer. Wendy, along with being a tournament angler in both fresh and saltwater, is presently the national sales manager for Izorline International and travels all over the country to various fishing events in that capacity. David is primarily a saltwater fisherman and puts a number of charter trips together during the year. And, of course, we have Kip Pollay every week, a very well-known Arizona angler. Kip keeps us informed about what is happening around the Phoenix area.

Q: So along with having fun, what are the goals of your program?

A: The outdoors is a great way for families to spend time together, and we want to make people aware of that. We would like to get more children and women involved. We want to expose people to the wonders and the joy of participating in outdoor sports of all kinds and to do it responsibly.
