GO, FIDO! -- "Splash Dogs" is one highlights of the sixth Annual International Sportsmen's Expo, the state's largest sportsmen's show March 10-12 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. Local dogs and their owners are welcome to compete, as the canines run and leap into a 50-foot-long water-filled pond.

Arizona’s largest sportsmen’s show at Arizona State Fairgrounds March 10-12, 2006 features four buildings packed with the latest in adventure vacations, camping, and fishing and hunting accessories.

A remarkable event "Splash Dogs" will debut at the show.

What: From archery, fishing and camping equipment to a Dutch Oven cook-off, Jeep test track, rock-crawler mountain and elk-and turkey-calling contests, the sixth annual International Sportsmen’s Exposition (ISE) will offer the complete cure for cabin fever.

The three-day ISE — the largest event of its kind in Arizona — offers huge displays of the latest, cutting-edge gear for the hunter, angler, and family camper, all at great show prices. In addition, outdoor enthusiasts can attend expert-led seminars, try new products, and watch or even enter a contest.

  • The once-a-year 2006 ISE will include the following:

Arizona Outdoors Building – Meet local experts and more than a dozen local clubs to learn about hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, off-roading, and environmentalism — all things Arizona outdoors. Includes giant catch-and-release pond for kids, live-critter display, fishing and shooting simulators, and live-raptor presentations.

  • Splash Dogs Leap into Show– It’s the sport of Dukes…and Rovers and Fidos. Pets small and large, elegant and not, will run and leap into a 50-foot-long water-filled pond. Local dogs and their owners are welcome to compete.

  • International Dutch Oven Society "Phoenix Heat" Cook-Off – Daily demos by local enthusiasts of this fun style of cooking. From turkey to fancy breads to layer cakes and even ice cream, learn how to cook delicious food.
