Second Fire Station Opens In Queen Creek

The Rural/Metro Fire Department has opened a temporary fire station in southwest Queen Creek. The four-member paramedic fire crew is housed jointly with a Southwest Ambulance facility located at 25308 South 203rd Place.

This station is expected to continue serving Queen Creek until the Town of Queen Creek enters into a master contract with the Rural/Metro Fire Department and the Town opens their own temporary fire station near Sossaman and Cloud Roads this fall.

Based upon analysis of emergency activity, Rural/Metro determined the southwest area of the town was the best location for a second fire station. The fire crew has been operating in Queen Creek since July 9.

“This temporary fire station will reduce town-wide response times and provide additional firefighters to fight fires,” said Fire Chief Gary Morris.

In May, voters approved a primary property tax to fund the town’s fire and emergency medical services.  “We chose to add another fire crew while the town prepares to open the second fire station,” Morris said.

“The Rural/Metro Fire Department is also working closely with town officials to determine fire truck specifications and fire station design.”
