There’s Good Catchin’ At Press Time

SUCCESS TIMES FOUR -- William Roe, shown in front of Lew's Tackle Shop in Apache Junction, caught these four largemouth bass at Canyon Lake on the morning of Sept. 8. The weights were 4 pounds, 3.5 pounds, and two at about 2 pounds.

Canyon Lake

This is the place if you like catfish.  One angler caught six using water dogs – one weighing in at 48 pounds. Bass are running as well.  One angler states that this is the best fishing he’s seen at Canyon in years. William Roe caught five bass, two 1 ½ pounds, one 2 pounds, one 3 ½ pounds, and one 4 pounds using Zoom U-Tale Scuppernong bait with 3/16 oz Bagley jig.

Saguaro Lake

  This is another great spot for catching catfish.  Frank Carey caught six catfish, weighing 2 to 4 pounds. Bass are also running.

Roosevelt Lake

 This is the place for catching bass — they’re running hot!  One angler caught five bass over the slot using Castaic swim bait — 4-inch slim-green shad. William Taylor caught a 12-pound catfish using water dogs.
