Located in Lake Havasu City on the Colorado River and Lake Havasu, the London Bridge Yacht Club — established in June 2005 — is a member of both the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) and US SAILING.

The club’s mission is “to promote safe sailing and power boating, to provide social activities for its members and to enhance the local community by actively sponsoring, hosting, and participating in community events and projects.”

Yacht Club Profile

The London Bridge Yacht Club is a non-profit organization established under the laws of the State of Arizona, consisting of approximately 70 memberships and 130 members. 

Management of the club is the responsibility of an elected board of directors, which consists of seven flag officers and three directors. A long-term goal of the yacht club is to acquire a facility on the shoreline of Lake Havasu.

It currently maintains a clubhouse aboard a uniquely modified houseboat, which is docked at the end of Pier "P" in the Lake Havasu Marina. The women of the Club are organized into a women's auxiliary known as the “Knottie Girls.” 

LBYC acts as coordinator and manager for the London Bridge Days Parade and the Boat Parade of Lights, both annual events in Lake Havasu City.

The London Bridge Days Parade occurs the last weekend in October, and the Boat Parade of Lights is a two-night event, consisting of a Friday Parade Dress Rehearsal followed by the full parade on Saturday. It occurs on the first weekend in December.

The club’s traditional "Opening Day" for the boating season is combined with a Mardi Gras Boat Parade, a fund-raising event for selected local charities during the second weekend of March each year.

The London Bridge Yacht Club is named after the world-famous bridge of the same name, which is now located in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. This bridge had spanned the Thames River in London from 1831 until 1962, when the English Parliament decided to replace it.

Robert P. McCulloch, a local businessman and early architect of the city, purchased the bridge, had it disassembled and shipped to Arizona, and rebuilt it where it now stands. The completed London Bridge was dedicated Oct. 10, 1971, and the club is proud to share in its famous name and history.

Two of the club’s major annual events are the London Bridge Days Parade — for which it acts as chair — on Oct. 27 And, the famous Boat Parade of Lights, on which the club works all year, is scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8.

This year’s theme is “Represent Yourself” (with a Christmas flair) and is Lake Havasu City’s 25th annual light parade. The last 24 years have seen a wide variety of floats, ranging from basic Christmas decorations to very elaborate and unique displays.

The club urges boaters to participate, “No matter what type of boat (or floating vessel) you have, decorate it to represent your special interests, your business or profession, your recreational pastimes, your heritage or your plans for the future.

“If you previously had a parade entry that you enjoyed, bring it back for an encore presentation. We hope to see you in December for our 25th Boat Parade of Lights, one of Lake Havasu City's premier annual events.”

HOME OF LBYC -- To commemorate the launching of the London Bridge Yacht Club's new 52-foot houseboat/clubhouse, ambassadors from the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce visited the club at its location in the Lake Havasu Marina and hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony . Also present for the ceremony were Commodore Scott Monnier, along with officers of the yacht club and club members who filled the dock and the upper deck of the clubhouse.
