Shoulder Season Is A Great Time To Explore Lake Powell

PAGE, Ariz. – As the busy summer season winds down, visitors to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area should be aware that some of the park’s facilities and commercial services will move to their winter schedule.

The Lake Powell Resort at Wahweap will remain open all winter, with
breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at Java City Coffee Shop or the Driftwood Lounge.

Antelope Point Marina’s floating restaurant, Ja’di’ To’oh, will also be
open through the winter for lunch and dinner.

While Defiance House Lodge at Bullfrog closes for the season on Nov. 5,
family housing units with complete kitchens are available at Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, and Hite.

Campgrounds at Wahweap, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, and Lees Ferry also will
remain open throughout the winter.

Dangling Rope Marina will close for the season on Nov. 26 and will
reopen on Feb. 28.  Fuel will not be for sale at Dangling Rope during the winter, so boaters should plan accordingly.  Boat fuel is available at Antelope Point, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, and Wahweap marinas throughout the winter.

The Carl Hayden Visitor Center will move to its winter operating hours
beginning on Nov. 4, opening from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

While some of the Glen Canyon’s services may be limited through the winter,
it is still a great time to visit the park.  Value-season discounts for houseboat rentals are available at Antelope Point, Wahweap, and Bullfrog marinas.

A houseboat vacation on Lake Powell is the perfect setting for a Thanksgiving or holiday celebration.  Full kitchens make it easy to create sumptuous holiday meals, while enjoying quality family time.
