TO CALIFORNIA

Rural Metro Fire Department

The Rural/Metro Fire Department deployed an additional Type-3 engine from the Johnson Ranch Fire Station (911 E. Hunt Hwy.) this week, joining two other appartus from the Rural/Metro Operations in Pima, Maricopa, and Pinal counties. The Arizona State Land Department requested Rural/Metro Fire Department resources join a strike team that assembled in Needles, Calif., for assignment and deployment to fight the California wildfires. Two of the Type-3 engines (brush trucks) are from the Rural/Metro Maricopa/Pinal Operations, and the other is from the Pima County Operation. Each of the three trucks has three wildland firefighters with different assigned capabilities. Among the crew are Jeff Clark, R/M engine boss; Todd McMichael, operator, and Mike Eubank, wildland firefighter. The same type of brush truck responded from Rural/Metro's Tucson Operations with a crew of Steve Hathaway, engine boss; Keith Kotiet, firefighter, and Mark Hammond, operator. All of us here at Arizona Boating & Watersports send a heartfelt thank you to all the amazing firefighters from many locations as well as our best wishes to the people of Southern California, including many personal friends and advertisers in San Diego.
