The Arizona State Parks' Outdoor Dad of the Year contest is looking for a dad who has passed on their knowledge, skills, experience and appreciation of the Great Outdoors.

Go to www.azoutdoordad.com to nominate a father for the Arizona State Parks' Outdoor Dad of the Year. Complete a 200-words-or less description explaining why your dad or another special father should be recognized as the Arizona State Parks' Outdoor Dad of the Year.

Grand Prize is a one-week vacation for the whole family aboard a 59-foot houseboat on Lake Mead, courtesy of Forever Resorts; a seven-day ski-boat rental to be used during the houseboat trip, a seven-day Harley-Davidson rental from Chester’s Harley-Davidson, and a $500 gift card from Chester’s Harley-Davidson.

Ten runner-up winners will each receive an Arizona State Parks Premium Annual Pass.  

Nominations must be received by Wednesday, June 13 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced during the Doug & Wolf Show between 5 and 9 a.m. on Sports 620 AM, Friday, June 15.

Pirates On The Salt River!

MESA, Ariz. — Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of water!  Salt River Tubing kicks off its first “Pirates on Salt River” event on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17 at 9 a.m.  Celebrate a unique Father’s Day with a floating picnic on the Salt River and join in the merriment as costumed river employees and pirate warships (shuttle buses) ferry Salt River pirates to and from the river.

Glass containers are prohibited by law in the Lower Salt River Recreational Area and will be confiscated.  Ice chests and coolers will be inspected for glass containers before tubers board the shuttle buses.
