Scorpion Bay Marina Holds Dock Dedication

Construction Underway For New Marina

Skipper Marine Development and Lake Pleasant Regional Park are pleased to announce that construction on the new Scorpion Bay Marina has begun. To celebrate the occasion, the agencies hosted a dock dedication on Jan. 17.

“The County has worked hard to bring this project to realization. I am pleased that development has finally begun,” stated Maricopa County Supervisor Andy Kunasek, chairman, District 3.

“The new amenities at Lake Pleasant will benefit all residents who enjoy spending time at the park with their families and friends. Beyond providing additional recreational opportunities, the new marina will offer individual watercraft owners new options when it comes to storage and launching,” added Supervisor Max Wilson, District 4.

In addition to on-site boat storage, covered and uncovered marina slips, the full-service marina — which contains a fuel dock, pump-out system, store and food services — will have a new state-of-the-art floating dock system with a wave attenuator that will create a safe harbor for the boats.

According to Cris McSparen, Scorpion Bay Marina manager, “The marina will also offer a motorized tram service to get boat owners from the parking area to the water’s edge.”

McSparen comes to the marina with 28 years of experience in the marina industry and has been involved in the project’s development since the inception.
