Arizona State Parks Conducts Grant Workshops For Fiscal Year 2008-2009

Arizona State Parks will offer several competitive grant programs in fiscal year (fy) 2008 and 2009.  The workshops provide detailed instructional sessions on how to complete a grant application.  Workshops are free and application points may be awarded for workshop attendance.  Registration is not needed.

The 2008 "Growing Smarter" State Trust Land Acquisition Grant Funds are used to assist eligible applicants in purchasing or leasing State trust land that has been reclassified for conservation.

Political subdivisions of the state and non-profit organizations with the purpose of preserving open space may apply for these monies.  The deadline for grant applications is May 30, 2008.

The LRSP Grant Program Workshops and the Trails Heritage Fund Grant Program Workshops for the upcoming FY 2009 Cycle will be held on the following dates:  Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Pima County Natural Resources Office, 3500 West River Road, Tucson; Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Avondale City Hall, 11465 W. Civic Center, Avondale; and Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Flagstaff City Hall, 211 West Aspen Street, Flagstaff.

The Trails Heritage Fund supports non-motorized trail acquisition, construction, and improvement of trails in the State Trail System.   In order to be eligible for a Trails Heritage Fund grant, a trail must be part of the State Trails System.  Nomination forms are due by July 1, 2008 for fiscal year 2009 grant eligibility.

The application deadline for the upcoming grant cycle for both the LRSP and Trails Heritage Grant Programs is February 27, 2009.

The application deadline for the upcoming fiscal year 2009 RTP Grant Program will be March 31, 2009.  A workshop will be held on Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Avondale City Hall, 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, Avondale.  Workshop attendance is required for all applicants.

The Historic Preservation Heritage Fund supports historic preservation efforts consistent with the Secretary of Interior Standards.  In order to apply for a Historic Preservation Grant, applicants are required to attend a Grant Application Process Workshop.

The application deadline for the FY 2008 1st Cycle is May 30.
