Lake Pleasant Closes Dirty Shirt Cove

As Construction Begins On New Marina

Maricopa County News Release

MORRISTOWN, Ariz. — Lake Pleasant Regional Park visitors will soon witness changes at Dirty Shirt Cove as parts of the shoreline are fenced-off and closure signs are installed for construction of the new Scorpion Bay Marina and Yacht Club. The Dirty Shirt closure will go into effect on April 2.

Supervisor Max Wilson, District 4, said, “The new amenities at Lake Pleasant will be a boon to all the residents who enjoy this Maricopa County Park.  Beyond providing additional recreation, the new marina will offer the owners of individual watercraft new options when it comes to storage and launching.

“The Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to see this project come to fruition,” stated William Scalzo, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department director.

“Parks has been working closely with the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation and the private contractor to ensure that the identified site and plan will have a minimal impact to the surrounding vegetation and habitat,” Scalzo added.

The new facility will include both dry and wet boat storage, fueling station, convenience store, watercraft rental, boat repairs, and restrooms.
