Horning, Moore Are Watching Out For You At Lake Powell If you have been to Lake Powell, chances are you have seen the National Park Service 46-foot buoy tender at work. The vessel and its crew are on the water 10 hours a day, maintaining the buoy system and marking hazards.

Lower Lake Powell
The northern lake is typical for late winter, with challenging fishing for most species. Forage was abundant last fall. Fish are fat and have gone dormant for the winter. There is very sparse catching during daylight, with stripers providing more action at night under fish-attracting lights.

Nearly three million people visit the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area every year, and while Lake Powell is the main attraction, there are also plenty of other beautiful places to visit nearby, including the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and Zion National Park.

Lake Powell Marina Upgrade
With its high cliffs and panoramic views, Lake Powell, the 140-mile-long reservoir behind Glen Canyon Dam, is a boater's paradise.  However, the lake's extreme 250-foot depth and 100-foot seasonal variations in water level made the mooring of 25-ton, 75-foot houseboats unreliable.
