Mohave County Sheriff Updates ‘Fleet’ With Four New 24-foot Patrol Boats
Sheriff Tom Sheahan has added four new "state-of-the-art" boats to the fleet of vessels his department has patrolling Mohave County’s waterways.

Three of the new 24-foot Boston Whaler Justice patrol boats have replaced aging Boston Whalers previously stationed on Lake Havasu — the fourth is currently in-service on Lake Mead.

The new boats, which are equipped with twin 200 hp Mercury motors and state-of-the-art electronics — including a digital throttle system, lighting, and radio equipment — were purchased entirely from grant funds from the State Lake Improvement Fund.

Woman Critically Injured In Crash on Lake Mohave
A California woman was critically injured May 14 in a boating accident on Lake Mohave.

The 18-year-old woman suffered massive head injuries around 2:20 p.m. when the personal watercraft she was a riding on — which, National Park Service officials say, was driven by a 16-year-old teenage girl also from California — drove in front of a boat operated by another 16-year-old male from California.

Authorities reported that the operator of the boat tried to evade the personal watercraft but was not able to miss it completely.
