Body of Man Missing In Two Boat Crash on
Lake Havasu Found
AZBW NEWS SERVICE — The body of a California man missing
since the June 3 collision of two performance boats on the
Colorado River north of Lake Havasu was recovered June 17.
Authorities have been searching for the body of David George
Ramsey of Riverside, Calif., since June 3, when the boat he was
aboard crashed with another boat on the Colorado River, south of
Jopps Harbor Cove, injuring 15 people.
The body of Ramsey, 54, was discovered around 4:30 p.m. by a
passing boater who contacted the Mohave County Sheriff’s office.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said
in a release that the body of Ramsey was located approximately
one-quarter mile from the original accident location.
The accident occurred when a 28-foot Advantage boat, with 15
teachers from Phoenix — who were attending an annual retreat at
Lake Havasu City — board, collided with a 28-foot Eliminator
with four people on board.
Authorities reported that all 15 people aboard the Advantage,
who were ejected into the water, were transported to Lake Havasu
Regional Medical Center.
Later two of the teachers, who had suffered serious injuries,
were airlifted to Las Vegas, Nev.
The remaining 13 passengers were treated at the medical
center and released later that evening.
Ramsey, who was a passenger aboard the Eliminator boat, did
not surface after being ejected into the water, authorities
said.
The three other people aboard the Eliminator did not have any
injuries.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office investigators said a
preliminary investigation indicates that both boats involved in
the accident may have been traveling too fast.
