A Note From One Of Our San Carlos Readers September 8, 2009

Jim,
Hi, I was wondering how many readers/subscribers you have that come to San Carlos… as far as you know. I don’t know if you know, but we had a severe “Tropical Storm” I swear it was a hurricane, it was the worst in 60 years. We had approx 31 inches of rain. I just visited a few of the most rural areas and couldn’t believe the devastation. In Santa Clara, the community that is just before you get to the San Carlos turn off on the left, the water level was over 6 feet in some areas. If you could get word to your subscribers I think it would be great. Let me know if you are interested. Meanwhile I will forward you an email describing the situation. There is a group of us that have organized to collect supplies for the people at drop off points in Flagstaff, Tucson, and Phoenix. From there, we have volunteers that will be coming down bringing trucks of supplies. We are organizing groups to distribute the supplies to the most needy areas.

Hello all from beautiful San Carlos...Sorry for the late report but was up to our eye balls in things to do...We transitioned over to Bill, Jim and Windy this first part of the week and with the tournament made for hectic week...Normally always out by Sunday sorry..We will continue to write each week until we everything gets up to speed..

Had a busy week of charters with repeat customers fishing for three straight days doing extremely well fishing with Abel on Jonjen 2 catching big Dorado, and releasing some nice Sails...Friday saw them bottom fishing with Roberto the last day and getting some triggers. small Pargo...

Andale 2 doing well with two nice Dorado on Wednesday and doing the same on Friday...That evening getting ready for the tournament on Andale 2...

With the swine flu, the election and being a dry weekend made for a small turn out for the Billfish Blowout, With 12 boats and 42 anglers but it was a successful weekend..

The first day found Andale II and Mr. Tata with two sails each. With another five boats had one fish. Two or three 30-40# Dorado came in each day, Day two found Margarita V catching up early with a sail. Andale in turn losing a nice sail to that ever lasting sound you hate to hear is that snapping line. Mr. Tata landed a sail to take the lead again. Andale once again, this time I hooked and had the fish on and pop the hook snapped I was ready to be tied...The luck of fishing..., Mr.Tata caught #2 to pull into the lead again, Margarita 5 losing a Marlin, and then Mr. Tata pulled off a double to take the lead by three. We had a big Blue in and out of the spread couldn't`t get to hit...Saw a great site...with our teaser a big sail just keep attacking the lure each time his sail would open up and he would turn fluorescent and did this for a few minutes great site to see.....

Six releases for Mr. Tata to take first and the honor. Three releases for Team Margarita to take second and the $250 jackpot. Two releases for Andale II to place third and win the $750 jackpot. I think five or six boats were tied for second in the $750 jackpot.

There were two fish over 40# the first day (Reel Loco was entered I thought with their 40# fish), and unfortunately Kryptonite didn't weigh their fish after they thought a larger fish was already weighed...

What happened was Tom on Jonjen didn`t enter the big bull pool...The same as Randy on Reel Loco...No play or pay...Kryptonite should of weighed instead of fillets....The big Bull Dorado was taken by Scotty on Sassy Lady (EZ Lady) took the pot and trophy with a 35.4# fish,..A big thank you to Mark Mulligan and we are very happy to be a sponsor for him and look forward the coming years....

WOW! We had a blast in San Carlos over the 4th of July!! Water was warm (84), visibility was excellent and the seas were flat! We played with octopus on every dive! The sealions were extremely playful, and some of us saw a whale shark !! Diving the wreck of the Diaz Ordaz was really nice, tons of fish! We had zero, nada, zilch, no problems anywhere on the drive or in town. Everyone was so nice. It was awesome and I am going back on August 6th and I would love for you to join me!! Call or stop by the Scuba Center and reserve your spot! Don't miss this - it's gonna be a blast!

There are also a few spots left for Beach Clean-up in September.

Fishing San Carlos June 21-27th

Hello from hot and sunny San Carlos, it is the start of the monsoon season...Starting to get a bit humid but the fish and us ole guys love it....We had a up and down week meaning some bumpy days and smoothing out as the day went on....

Started the week off boat rides and fishing in close if you can believe catching small Dorado right out in front...Had a two boats out on Tuesday with Roberto on Jonjen getting three nice bulls with Kevin from beautiful Chicago area getting the go ahead to fish all day by himself...finding the pallet and seeing all the fish laying under was his highlight....and of course his 34lb bull helped...

Abel on Jonjen 2 getting four nice Dorado and we vacuumed sealed a bunch for them of which they contributed to our having fish available for you to enjoy....Jim and his son from Boulder Co..really enjoyed the day with a little lumpy seas then laying down only to get better as the day wore on...Enjoyed there company that evening with fresh Dorado at the Marina Terra Rest..They did a wonderful job...

Friends on the same dock seeing what they said was the biggest Great White shark they have seen bigger and longer than there 21 ft whaler..Seeing going under the dead whale...No pictures darn...They have been fishing everyday and doing well....

Photos attached is of a fisherman who comes in daily to talk fishing and his 42lb bull...Great job Steve Smith on Kiwi Girl....

The fishing has been good with some good size Dorado and seeing lots of Billfish and some big boys...Heard of two incidents of spooling reels...that a girl....Until next week Jon and Jen and the animal family... JULY 4TH BILLFISH BLOWOUT THIS COMING WEEKEND IF YOU WANT TO JOIN US WE HAVE ROOM....SHOULD BE A GREAT WEEK OF FISHING
