You are probably thinking that a gill is some sort posh egg, but it isn’t. A gill is a rocky mountain stream and scrambling it is going down it.
I went to the Lake District with my school and this was one of the activities. I’ll be honest and say it was not my favourite. On the day that I did it it was pouring and freezing cold. We walked up the side of a mountain and then were told to sit in the gill. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It was sooooooo cold. Then we walked down it for a while. Then the fun started (for some people, not me). We slide down rocks and did belly-flops of others. We went down some backwards and crawled through especially rocky patches.
At the end of it all we were completely soaked and freezing cold. Our prize…….changing in the bushes.
We also went kayaking and canoeing. Those were quite fun. We played lots of games and learned how to splash properly.
I quite enjoyed my time in the Lake District. I would not recommend gill scrambling but just about everyone I know would.
