Tami Binek Earns ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Recognition

Northern Arizonaís Tami Binek was one of 32 Division I student-athletes to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors in District 8 for the womenís at-large category, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The category includes student-athletes from a wide variety of sports, including swimming and diving, rowing, lacrosse, field hockey, golf, gymnastics and tennis.

Binek, earning the honor for the first time in her career, was named to the third team in District 8, which is comprised of schools from California, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, Nevada, Hawaii and Washington.

The award recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically in their sport. Binek, a recently graduated senior, has a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.54 as a mechanical engineering major.

This past February, Binek was a part of two school-record setting relays at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships, and earned a silver medal as part of the 200 freestyle relay. She earned a second All-WAC Award as part of the fourth-place and school-record setting 400 freestyle relay.

Binek is a three-time Academic All-WAC honoree and a four-time recipient of a Golden Eagle Scholar Athlete Award.
